Are you looking for a way to improve your deadlift? If so, consider building your own deadlift platform.
This can be an easy and affordable way to get the most out of your workouts. In this post, we’ll show you how to build your own platform and provide some tips on using it. Let’s get started!
Weight Lifting Platform (DIY)
Building a weight lifting platform is a great way to get the most out of your workouts. Not only does it provide a stable and level surface for lifting, but it also protects your flooring from damage.
Plus, it can be easily disassembled and stored away when not in use. So if you’re looking for an easy and affordable way to get the most out of your strength training, consider building your own weightlifting platform!
Platform for Deadlifting
The first step is to find a suitable location for your platform. It should be level and have enough space for you to move around freely.
If you’re unsure about the dimensions, a good rule of thumb is to make the platform at least 4 feet wide and 8 feet long.
Next, you’ll need to gather some supplies. For the frame, you’ll need 2x4s or 4x4s (depending on the size of your platform).
You’ll also need plywood or OSB (oriented strand board) for the flooring, screws, and nails. Finally, you’ll need something to cover the flooring, such as carpet or rubber matting.
The Advantages of Using a Lifting Platform
There are several advantages to using a lifting platform.
First, it can help you achieve proper form by preventing the barbell from slipping. Second, it protects your flooring from scratches and damage.
And third, it provides a stable surface that won’t move or shift as you exercise.
How to Make a Deadlift Platform That Can Be Taken With You
If you’re looking for a more portable option, consider making a platform that can be taken with you.
One option is to use 2x4s or 4x4s on top of gym mats.
Or if you prefer to use plywood, you can cut it down into smaller pieces and attach them together with screws or nails. Just remember to leave room for the flooring when measuring and cutting your wood!
How to Construct a Weightlifting Platform
When it comes to building a lifting platform, there are several different options.
Some people choose to build an open frame that uses wall studs and plywood or OSB. Others opt for a frame with legs and flooring materials in place.
The right approach will depend on your specific needs and preferences. Just be sure to plan carefully so you can build the strongest possible platform!
Overall, building your own deadlift platform is a great way to get more out of your workouts. With the right supplies and some basic carpentry skills, you can have an effective home gym in no time.
A lot of people think that they need to go to the gym in order to get a good workout. However, this isn’t always the case!
In fact, you can get an excellent workout by using a homemade deadlift platform.
Not only is this more convenient (and often cheaper) than going to the gym, but it also allows you to customize your workout routine.
For example, if you have limited space in your home, you can make a smaller platform that still meets your needs.

F.A.Q how to build your own deadlift platform:
How much does it cost to build a weightlifting platform?
It is extremely inexpensive and incredibly simple to construct a lifting platform. It only cost me $170 and took Matt and myself an hour to construct.
Here’s how you can do it. You’ll have an 8′ × 8′ platform when you’re done.
Which wood is best for deadlift platform?
The bulk of our platforms are made of BC grade plywood. We used AB grade Oak on two of them since we managed to stumble across it at a low price.
Make sure it’s a hardwood, whatever you choose. Personally, I like the BC since it has a better grip and is less sandblasted.
Do you need a platform for deadlifts?’
Lifting platforms offer a safe environment for dropping heavy barbells to the ground. Olympic-style lifting and deadlifts are the most popular examples.
The platform will shield the floor, weights, and bar from damage. They aren’t necessary in most home gyms unless you’re doing this kind of lifting.
Can I use MDF for deadlift platform?
Many people use a 4×8 piece of plywood or MDF that hasn’t been adjusted, which will work OK, but the plates on the bar will be just outside the edges.
To give the bumpers more room to land on rubber, I like to cut this top sheet down to 3’6″.
As you can see, it’s not too difficult to build your own deadlift platform. With a few simple tools and supplies, you can have this project completed in no time.
Be sure to follow the safety guidelines we outlined earlier to ensure a safe lifting experience for you and your workout partners. Have fun with this project and enjoy improved performance when deadlifting!
